What a fantastic time we had serving at a hostel on the Camino again this year. I had a great team with me and many lives were touched as we shared our faith, prayed for many pilgrims (hikers) and showed loving hospitality.
One man named Os* believed there were many ways to God. As we chatted, the Lord provided opportunity for me to
explain how mankind has always tried to reach God using education, philosophy, or good deeds and how Jesus was the only way. It gave him much to consider.
Later, that day, one of our team members (Jason) conversed with Os for over an hour explaining who Jesus was and our desperate need for a Savior. His curiosity continued because during dinner he asked why I got emotional while saying grace. I replied, "He's saved me from so much, my friendship with Christ runs deep. I love him more than anyone else." thenI offered to talk more about that after dinner.
After dinner, we played a game that helps us get to know the overnight guests better. It also gives us opportunity to share our testimonies. Again we could see Os was curious and eager to learn about Christianity.
Alas, he left the next morning without making a commitment so we prayed for him. While flying home Saturday, all of us on the team got a text from Jason saying that he and Os talked on the phone and Os indicated a decision to follow Christ! Praise God!
Pray for Os to grow in his newfound faith and to connect with a community of other believers.
Also pray for Rick*, a young man from the USA who is interested in following Jesus. I spent a long time discussing the gospel but he had a hard time believing that receiving Jesus could be so easy. Pray that he comes in contact wit the gospel again and decides to surrender his life.
Thanks for making stories like this happen. Without your prayers and financial support Christine and I could not do this.
