Christine regularly meets with some of our missionary women to encourage and train them. Recently the Lord used her to propel two of our African outreaches that were ready to close down.
Ellen serves in Uganda and Jane in Zimbabwe. Both staff women were questioning if they should continue working with our teachers there. Ellen and Jane wondered if this were the best use of their time and skill sets because of the unique challenges:
- the internet is unreliable.
- lack of resources.
- limited funding because the average pay for teachers is about $40 a month.
- difficulty meeting with the teachers.
- and so much more.
Neither women had flown over to meet with teachers in a few years. Rather than each woman going alone to their prospective countries, Christine encouraged the ladies to travel together as a team and meet with people in both countries to determine if God wanted their efforts to continue.
"You can meet together, co-teach, and cross pollinate to get new ideas from each other's country." Christine said. She helped the staff women with the logistics and strategy to make that happen.
When Jane and Ellen returned home, Christine asked, "Was it worth it?"
Smiling wide, they both resounded, "Yes! The teachers were very encouraged by our visit."
The Christian teachers wanted to reach their colleagues and students with the gospel but just needed help knowing how to do it. Their time with Jane and Ellen encouraged them with the direction they needed.
One teacher valued her time with Jane and Ellen so much she traveled five hours to meet with them. "With 77% of Uganda's population being under the age of 25 it's crucial that the students get the gospel." said Jane. Please pray for their small but growing ministry in Uganda and Zimbabwe.
